Prison key, lever & the true ending
The prison checkpoint, the key-item rule, and what to do if the entrance looks like a dead end.
This page discusses the prison area, a key item and the true-ending requirement. It stays light on story, but it does name the area and the item. If you want to solve it blind, bookmark this page and come back.
At the prison entrance, find and activate the lever — public reports say missing its base can block progress. The prison key opens the way forward, and the silver dagger is another item you should not store in your backpack. Keep key items in your normal inventory or hotbar.
What the prison gate needs
Public reviews describe the prison as a progression checkpoint with two moving parts: a lever near the entrance and a prison key. One reviewer specifically asks for the lever base to be highlighted more, because missing it blocks progression. That is a useful warning: when the prison entrance looks like a dead end, scan the floor and the wall bases for an interactable.
The same reviews mention a silver dagger alongside the prison key as an item that can be lost if a backpack bug triggers. Patch 1.0.47.0 addresses several item-loss paths, but the safe habit remains: do not put irreplaceable quest items in the backpack.
The lever, prison key and silver dagger details come from public Steam reviews. We have not independently verified the exact sequence or the full list of required items. Treat this as a map of reported bottlenecks, not a walkthrough with every step.
A safe prison run
- Update first. Install 1.0.47.0 so the backpack and death-pack fixes are active.
- Leave the backpack at camp. Bring only the tools and food you need; keep the key items in your normal inventory.
- Bring light and a weapon. The prison is not a place to discover you forgot a torch.
- Find the lever before you commit. Walk the entrance wall and floor; interact with anything that looks like a base or mechanism.
- Take the key, then return to camp if you are full. A key in your pocket is progress; a key in a lost backpack is a wasted run.
- Do not drop the silver dagger. If you find it, treat it as a quest item until you know what it opens.
The true ending and the command
One public review says the true ending requires a specific command that is not listed when the game shows all available commands. We are not publishing a guessed command. If you have a screenshot of the exact input and the patch number, send it through the correction page and we will verify it before adding it here.
What we can say: the game tracks commands and the true ending is not simply “reach the last room.” If you are at the end and the obvious interaction does nothing, check the command interface before assuming the game is bugged.
If you think you are soft-locked
Public reviews from the launch build describe soft-locks caused by lost key items. The 1.0.47.0 patch fixes several of the underlying item-loss bugs, including backpacks and death packs sinking in water. If you are on the current build and still stuck:
- Check whether a key item is in a death pack or a backpack you left behind.
- Return to the prison entrance and confirm the lever is active.
- Restart the session once; some co-op state bugs clear on reload.
- Report the exact steps and patch number to the developer, and to us if you want it reflected here.
