Demo: what to test before you buy
A feel test, not a benchmark. Use it to decide whether the friction is for you.
Short answer
Yes — a demo exists on Steam, and public reviews reference playing it before the full release. The demo may lag behind the current patch, so treat it as a feel test, not a final performance benchmark.
What to test in the demo
- The loop. Does the camp → explore → cook → craft → return rhythm appeal to you?
- The friction. The game is deliberately slow and gives little direction. If that frustrates you in the demo, it will frustrate you in the full game.
- Co-op. If you plan to play with friends, test the lobby and the shared inventory pressure.
- Performance. Check the frame rate and controls on your own machine; the demo is the cheapest place to find out.
What the demo may not tell you
- Patch differences. The demo may not include the launch fixes in 1.0.47.0.
- Late-game depth. The demo cannot show the full dungeon, bosses or true ending.
- Save carryover. We have not verified whether demo progress carries into the full game; do not assume it does.

If the demo is gone
Demos can be removed or changed. If the Steam page no longer offers one, use the price page, the review page and the beginner guide to decide.
