Is Deep Dish Dungeon good?

The honest pros and cons from public reviews — and the two player types who should decide differently.

Short answer

At the time of checking, Steam's review summary was “Very Positive” from 204 reviews. The common praise is the cooking/crafting loop, the dense hand-crafted dungeon and co-op; the common criticism is combat polish, enemy AI and launch-build bugs. Patch 1.0.47.0 addresses several of the technical complaints.

What players like

  • The loop. Camp → explore → gather → cook → craft → go deeper is satisfying if you like slow, systems-heavy games.
  • The cooking. Food is progression; recipes unlock buffs and change how you plan a run.
  • The density. Public reviews describe a smaller-than-expected map that is packed with secrets, shortcuts and optional routes.
  • Co-op. Three players sharing knowledge and supplies is the intended experience.

What players criticize

  • Combat. Enemy AI and hit feedback are the most common complaints.
  • Friction. The game gives little direction and the inventory is deliberately small. Some players find it frustrating rather than atmospheric.
  • Launch bugs. Backpack and key-item loss were widely reported; update to 1.0.47.0 before judging.
  • Performance / polish. Reviews mention rough edges; this is a small-team game, not a AAA production.
Review caveat

Review scores and counts change. We do not publish a numeric score of our own, and we do not claim to have played 100 hours. The summary above is based on public English Steam reviews and the store page at the time of checking.

Who should buy it

You like survival exploration, cooking/crafting systems, co-op with friends, and you are comfortable with a game that does not hold your hand. You enjoy reading the environment and planning a route more than winning every fight.

Who should skip it

You want polished action combat, constant direction, a large open world, or a game that plays well in short sessions without planning. Try the demo first if it is available.
